Services for People Struggling with Addiction and Mental Health

​Black Butterfly connects individuals and families affected by addiction and mental health challenges with compassionate, respectful, and community-based support. Available services may include:

Peer Support and Mentorship

  • One-on-one peer support from individuals with lived experience

  • Recovery mentorship and encouragement

  • Support groups for addiction, mental health, grief, and life transitions

  • Safe spaces to share experiences without judgment

  • Guidance for individuals beginning or continuing their recovery journey

 

Mental Health Support

  • Emotional support and wellness check-ins

  • Referrals to licensed counselors, therapists, and mental health professionals

  • Support with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and emotional wellness

  • Wellness education and coping-skills workshops

  • Help creating personal wellness and support plans

 

Addiction Recovery Support

  • Recovery education and relapse-prevention resources

  • Referrals to detoxification, residential, outpatient, and medication-assisted treatment programs

  • Support navigating recovery services and treatment options

  • Connections to recovery meetings and community-based programs

  • Assistance for individuals returning to the community after treatment or incarceration

 

Crisis and Safety Support

  • Help identifying immediate safety concerns

  • Connections to crisis hotlines, mobile crisis teams, emergency services, and local crisis centers

  • Support developing a personal safety or crisis plan

  • Referrals for urgent mental health or substance-use needs

If someone is in immediate danger, experiencing an overdose, or at risk of harming themselves or someone else, call emergency services. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline or call 911 for an immediate emergency. For suspected opioid overdose, administer naloxone if available and call 911.

 

Family and Caregiver Support

  • Education about addiction and mental health

  • Support groups and resources for families and caregivers

  • Guidance on setting healthy boundaries

  • Referrals to counseling and family services

  • Information about treatment, recovery, and community resources

 

Basic Needs and Community Resources

  • Referrals for housing and shelter

  • Food assistance and clothing resources

  • Transportation support when available

  • Employment, education, and job-readiness referrals

  • Assistance accessing healthcare, benefits, and other social services

 

Youth and Young Adult Support

  • Mentoring and positive youth development

  • Mental health and substance-use education

  • School, family, and community referrals

  • Support for young people affected by addiction in their families

  • Safe activities that promote connection, confidence, and resilience

 

How to Access Support

Services may vary based on location, eligibility, availability, and individual needs. Black Butterfly can help individuals identify appropriate resources, make referrals, and connect with trusted community partners.

You do not have to face addiction or mental health challenges alone. Support is available, recovery is possible, and asking for help is a sign of strength.
